Imitation Gold Leaf Sheets — 300 Pack

Imitation gold leaf gives you the finish of gilding without the cost of real gold — the right choice for picture frames, furniture, signage, sculpture and large canvas work where genuine leaf would be prohibitive.

Made from a copper and zinc alloy that resists tarnishing, so the finish stays bright. The sheets are a uniform thickness, which is what lets them lie flat and burnish evenly. At 14 cm square they cover ground quickly, and 300 sheets will see a substantial project through.

How to apply it

1. Prepare the surface and apply gilding size. Let it come to tack — usually 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size you use.
2. Lift a sheet on its backing paper and lay it onto the tacky surface.
3. Press down through the backing paper, then peel the paper away.
4. Once fully dry, burnish gently with cotton wool and brush off the loose flakes.
5. Seal with a clear varnish to protect the finish.

Overlap the sheets slightly as you work. The joins disappear once burnished.
